Hug-a-Bear

      Disciples of the Way is pleased to introduce our Bears of Refuge. These hug-able bears are gently dressed in new clothes and given a new life by the women in our Refugee Sewing Center. Our new Refugee Service Sewing Center (RSSC) is a place where Christ-minded women come to teach and share their God given talent with their refugee neighbors from all nations. Our staff from all nations is working tirelessly and kindly to build Christ-like relationships with these women and make disciple-makers among them to become leaders in their own communities.

By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” – John 13:35 ESV

       These bears are being given away – to you – our donors as a way of expressing our heartfelt gratitude for the blessing of your regular prayers and support. Watch your mailbox! This Hug-a-Bear project will continue for the next months until we have reached out to all our partners. Have you received your hug yet?

Teddy Bears

Our Great Gift

When we told the Muslim women that their beautiful work will be shared and given away freely, they were shocked. “Why aren’t you selling them?

He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness,
but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,
whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior….” – Titus 3:5-6 ESV

       DOW leaders take every opportunity like this to discuss with these women the free gift of Jesus Christ as our Savior who took away all our sins and guilt by freely dying on the cross.

       One of the main goals of all our ministries is to open up a channel of dialogue about spiritual topics. Sometimes these opportunities come through unusual actions which spark curiosity about Grace. Disciples of the Way is unique in its way of building trust with these refugees and earning the right to be heard. We do not seek our own profit but at minimum wage, these women get to discover not only their God-given talent to learn new skills but also the ability to support their own families. But the payment goes beyond that to receiving the gift of salvation that only comes by Grace alone in Christ alone in the Saving Gospel alone.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing;
It is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” – Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV
