Our international sewing team and workers, Sewing Seeds of Faith (SSOF) are mostly made up of Muslim mothers and daughters from different nations. These daughters of Hagar, who are mostly from Afghanistan and Iraq cannot read or write. We provide ESL classes while helping them improve their sewing skills. DOW’s mission purpose is that these mothers and their young daughters will learn about Jesus in our daily Arabic Bible study and devotions, so that the seeds of the Gospel will be planted and sown in their hearts one stitch at a time.
“So shall my word be that goes out of from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11
Sewing Seeds of Faith (SSOF) Sewing program serves refugee and immigrant women who are interested in learning a new skill. These women want to learn to sew for a multitude of reasons. Some want to learn for their own use. Some want to learn to seek employment elsewhere. Others want to learn a skill to get out of the house and find fellowship with a community of women.
Refugee women are often at risk for depression and our fellowship encourages these women who are isolated to join with others and build relationships.
SSOF serves our neighbors by offering skills for self-sufficiency, and encouraging self-worth. DOW staff listens and prays with our sewing women for all their needs and desires.
